History:
Before time and space existed, there was only a blank void.
And then Arceus came and created Palkia and Dialga, creating space and time simultaneously. Light and darkness was also brought to the universe.
However, the world only knew one singular, blank canvas. The world had not experienced the creation of a mathematical basis. This means that only one force could occur in the universe at a time. Space, time, light, darkness, these could not simultaneously exist. And so, forgotten through time, Arceus made another deity: Pidgeon, the god of Division.
Pidgeon, in its splendid glory, held the power of all mathematical forces. The power to add and combine, subtract and take away, multiply and most importantly, divide. Pidgeon was able to divide the universe into several dimensions, allowing time and space to occupy their own dimensions simultaneously, resulting in the world we have today. When the blank canvas was divided into light and dark, Pidgeon was there to facilitate and monitor this.
And the universe was fine.
Common life and humanity was soon spawned, creating the diversity of existence we have today. However, Pidgeon chose to withhold the power of math from mankind, deeming it too potent and powerful. Good and evil was also divided by Pidgeon from an inherent neutral state, making order and chaos.
However, with all math withheld by Pidgeon, there was no commerce in the world. One could not exchange money after all if one couldn't count it. There was no greed, and no one could take advantage of the other. Unfortunately, the world could not survive like this. With no agriculture, mankind knew the only way to survive was to hunt. And the things to hunt were the Pokémon. The Pokémon, with their natural abilities, could overpower the humans and perhaps eat them.
Yet with no math, the Pokémon could not defend themselves, as their powers were derived from the ability to subtract health from their foes via various spectacular moves. With no defensive stats, there was no subtraction to survive any hits, and Pokémon fell easily to the hungry humans.
Arceus, not wanting life to be destroyed, urged Pidgeon to finally release the power of math to the world. After all, every other legendary Pokémon had unleashed their own power to the world and gave it to all living creatures. Pidgeon, having no choice, gave the concept of numbers into the universe, and everyone suddenly became a lot smarter. Education was invented along with economy. The world was back on track.
Pidgeon was still worried that the power of Division, specifically, was too great for the world. Super Fang, Brine, and other moves relying on Division weren't invented, and one could not multiply by anything except positive integers for fractions were not in the world.
The economy of the world became massively inflated as Division was the powerful reduction force. Soon massive poverty was induced for people could not pay the massive fees for basic necessities. Society regressed as things could only go up. Subtraction was not powerful enough.
Uxie, the being of knowledge, gave mankind a long time before this knowledge of the ancient legends of the deities. People knew of Pidgeon's existence. The poverty stricken populace prayed to Pidgeon every possible opportunity. Once again, mankind turned against the Pokémon, sacrificing Pidgeys and Eevees at the altar. This certainly got Pidgeon's attention, as the Great One destroyed, through the mighty force of Division, the worshipers. However, this usage of Division to mankind's eye was soon replicated, as people now knew how Division worked.
Schools made by beings like Cranky Kong were set up to teach people math, including the mighty force of Division. Division was now in the world.
We, the Quotients, are the adherents of The Orthodox Order of Division (TOOD). We worship the deity Pidgeon and the great force of Division, the driving power of our world. Our mantra is to promote the responsible and scrumptious force of Division among the populace, and to give Pidgeon the credit He deserves.
