OK. You can probably guess what I'll ask this time...
What are the stupidest moments you can think of in a Mari0 game? For example, one that pops right into my head is Bowser, Booster and Mari0 kissing in Super Mari0 RPG....Ugh.
What do you think?

I thought the hub was okay. Though I think the entire game falls under the "what were they thinking?!" banner. WHAT!? Which part of Super Mari0 Galaxy is bad? The lack of interesting story, the linear level design, the uselessness of the Red Star power-up, the concept, the nonsensical ending, the fact that Peach's capital city was completely obliterated by three airships and that, what with prior events, this should have been avoidable, loopholes such as Mari0's ability to breathe in space, but not underwater? No game is perfect to everyone. Was that even a serious question?

Allow me to add to that list of "What were they thinking?" in Mari0 Galaxy.
The Fire/Ice Flower power up music. Seriously. What the hell. That has to be my least favorite string of noises in video game history. And that's including the annoying beeps in Pokémon when you're dying.
Hey guys we have this orchestra and we've made some really great music, how about we do some power up tunes? Cool. Alright, now heeere we go DOOP DOOP DOO DOOP DOOPDOOP DOOPDOOP DOO DOOP!

I like the Fire/Ice Flower songs BECAUSE they're so terrible. :3
Honestly I could look past most of Galaxy's faults if they had given you a little more freedom in the levels. Very few "secret" stars were interesting, and most weren't even very well hidden. I really liked how in SM64 (and to a lesser extent SMS) you were just dumped into the level and could basically go for whatever you wanted.

Well there is some nonlinearity on the order dependin' if you wanted the luma stars or the regular star for certain galaxies for certain missions and which one you'll go for.

.....I regret asking now.
This is considering Super Mari0 Galaxy is probably my favourite Wii game of all....>_>
I'll admit just one thing in your list of complaints.
The Red Flying Star was useless except for The Gateway's Purple Coins and getting a few 1-Ups in the Observatory...

Don't get me wrong, I think Super Mari0 Galaxy is great. It's just the linearity and a few of the songs. >:C
In Galaxy's defense, here are two points opposite of mine.
Gusty Garden had amazing music and the Drip Drop Galaxy music is excellently creepy. Also, there were a few levels that were fun to explore. (Mostly beach levels)

Although this thread seems to have turned into a "Super Mari0 Galaxy hate thread"....I remembered another problem with the game.
The Spring Mari0 mechanics.......why did you have to mention Matter Splatter, Toadster!?

The Spring Mari0 mechanics.......why did you have to mention Matter Splatter, Toadster!? Spring Mari0 needs a lot of work. XD I remember the Toy Galaxy and having so much trouble getting past that thing that sent out the shockwaves while simultaneously bouncing up and down and trying not to fall off a conveyor belt. In Galaxy's dire need for defense however, I found that the lack of plot isn't so terrible. I mean, take a look at ALL of the Mari0 games. Whenever do they deepen into anything more than the typical save the princess from Bowser thing, really? >__>; Of course that's why I love the games though. They're not meant for any deep storylines. Simply fun games. And the nostalgia.

I mean, take a look at ALL of the Mari0 games. Whenever do they deepen into anything more than the typical save the princess from Bowser thing, really? >__>; This is always the problem I have when discussing plot/storyline. Everyone seems to think that because it's been done before without it, that that is some kind of a defense. But it's a hit against all Mari0 games without plot; not a reason to ignore plot altogether in them. Yes, Mari0 games have been successful without it, but that doesn't mean it can't be successful with it. Look at the RPGs, for example. And I'm not saying it's a necessity, either; nothing in a game is a necessity. You could make a game that has no music or sound. But it'd be pretty dull, don't you think? Having it opposed to not is a great improvement; it enhances the experience. Graphics give a game sight. Music gives a game sound. Gameplay gives a game feeling. A story gives a game meaning. Otherwise, you are simply a mindless slave to the menial tasks laid before you, purposeless. Now, Mari0 always goes with the lowest amount of story possible, while still maintaining the purpose aspect. But if they did the same with other aspects - choppy gameplay, eye-straining graphics, wretched music - I think you too, would complain.

The way I see it, story, music, and graphics all essentially represent the effect that the game creates, as do a few other things. A game lacking in all three, therefore having a weak overall effect, such as Super Mari0 World, can never be that impressive overall, but if it's only lacking in one of the three and excels in the other two, such as Super Mari0 Galaxy, it can be an amazing game regardless.

SMW's above average music consists of this: and and Although the actual quality of the samples used in SMW is bloody AWFUL. Edit: The point I'm trying to say is that the average tune in SMW is average or worse quality and there isn't much above average. Edit 2: Example of below average: Creepy, but makes for bad music. With terrible samples. <.<
