Okay, so I just got back from GameStop after picking up my copy of Metroid Other M. I stick the disc in my Wii and sit down on my couch to admire the art folio pre-order gift thingy that came with it before I started playing. While I'm looking through it, I'm thinking to myself "WOW! This game is fucking gorgeous! I can't wait to play this!" And then I look up from it to the screen to see "unable to read disc." What. The. Fuck. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?! THIS GAME IS BRAND-FUCKING-NEW! So I try taking it out and putting it back in. Nothing. And then I try testing some other games to see if it's the Wii's fault. All of them worked, except Brawl. So I figure maybe this game's using one of those dual-layered disc things, like Brawl. I've tried using my Wii Lens Cleaning Kit and it hasn't done a thing. What do I do now? Any advice?

But I've never gotten any of those kinds of errors, all I've ever gotten were the "Unable to read the disc" messages. And the only games I've ever had trouble with were the ones with dual layered discs.

Called 'em. They weren't able to tell me anything I didn't already know. I also used the lens cleaner a bit more. I was able to get my two-year-old Brawl disc to work, but not my brand new Metroid Other M. Maybe it's just a faulty disc.

Unless I somehow get it to work tonight.

Maybe you should update unless you're using homebrew or schoolbrew
the game works fine on my wii and mines dusty as heck that Brawl doesn't work but Metroid M does.

On an unrelated note, I saw the Metroid Other M commercial today (on Nintendo's website). Woman playing as real-life Samus in that looks pretty hot in that suit.

If Brawl works and this doesn't, then blame Gamestop.

After several hours of cleaning my Wii's lens, I was able to get the damn game to work last night. But after I pressed start it just returned me to the Wii Menu and I haven't been able to get it to work since. So I'm pretty sure it's just my Wii's fault.

I've spent every night since I've bought it trying to get it to work, and so far it's done absolutely nothing.

GameFAQs says this is because of anti-pirating methods.

But that isn't fair... I've never pirated a game in my life.

Called 'em and set up a repair order. They volunteered to do it free of charge, which is really generous considering that my Wii is over 3 years old and the warranty expired a while ago. I'm gonna miss my Wii though.

...That's really fucking generous.
Now I want the 75 dollars I gave them back.
