I need some advice on how to win this weird competition.
I caught a level 15 Beedrill. Now I hear you get points for Pokémon with higher levels and rarity. If I'm not mistaken 15 is pretty high for pre-national dex competition and if I'm not mistaken, Beedrill is just as rare as finding a Scyther or Pinsir (I found I lot of Pinsirs actually). The results came in and I didn't even get in the top 3! First place went to some guy with a Paras!
What do I do? The bug catching contest seems to be the only way for me to get a Shiny Stone before the Elite 4! I want my Togekiss gosh darn it!

I think you lose points if the Pokémon you catch is on low HP. Try to make sure it's in good health when you catch it.

...That's wot matters.
So stats = Important. To wot degree? How much stats? I dunno.

I heard from my sister that one of the guys says the HP matters. I haven't actually gotten the game myself yet though.

Yeah. HP does have some affect on the scores. maybe a bit too much. To be honest, I didn't bring a weak enough Pokémon for this. I had to rely on a level 29 Togetic with Yawn and whose weakest attack is Shadow Ball. I thought a level 15 Beedrill who could barely hold on after being hit by Shadow Ball would be worth a lot.

I was expecting to be in the top 3 with a Level 18 Caterpie on my first try.
I never did. :<

I won it today! The trick is to find a Pinsir, paralyze it, and use as many balls at it takes to catch it without causing it damage.
Now I just need to prompt the game to hand over a Shiny Stone.

I now hate the contest.
I got 2nd place with 308 points with my Butterfree.
Who got 1st? Barry, with 308 points on HIS Butterfree.
...Wait, wot? That's A TIE, IDIOTS. I DON'T WANT YOUR EVERSTONE.
