By the way, Toadster, do you still want that rank of yours? It IS a staff rank and you haven't done anything since February. It's also holding you back in terms of number of stars/Captain faces.
Hungry still hasn't taken 5 dollars worth of Wii Shop content from you.

There was a minor issue and I never really actually did get the energy up to settle it.
This is the way I work.
Unless work involves cameras, then I've got all the energy in the world.
Discussion topic: You know, the other day, I helped my friend make a video asking his girlfriend to prom. It's funny because she was already expecting him to accompany her and this allowed me to make something creative that would frighten away any other person. After sharing some jokes about classic film student behavior (overly gritty, emotional dramas with no real point), we decided to do some mix of satire over this and normal Prom things. I'm not going to give a frame by frame, but I will say this:
The entire basis of the short is "A man is about to get hit by a car and his life is flashing before his eyes." The composition is incredibly surreal and hilarious to anyone genre savvy enough in the genre of, well, student films.
Apparently, it was so confusing people just clapped at the end. At the end when the main character dies.
This is what I do instead of make my own shorts to actually give some quality content to my future Youtube channel.

Ludwig! I make excellent cupcakes! But I've been told that the American cupcakes are not the crème de la crème of the cupcake kind... They are less sweet here in the North. (Oh no, I was certainly not going for those cupcakes the bird is flashing!) I appreciate your views on Avatar, but they are flawed. The only correct opinion is "Avatar is amazing", and until then, I will have no further conversation on this subject. Thank you. Cupcakes are amazing as well, and I believe Ludwig will come around. *throws cupcakes at him* That short, hmbk, sounds very interesting. I've seen a student play with the same general idea, except that it wasn't a carcrash, but it was that people had been informed about the approaching apocalypse. So, on the day of the world ending, the characters saw their lives passing before their eyes, until they did something they would do on their last day on Earth. It was a brilliant play - it had a musical number called "Umbrella" that had nothing to do with Rihanna! - but I could easily see the concept becoming really tacky and lackluster.

The concept doesn't get much tackier than making it a message to a girl about Prom. That was actually the idea. You see, my school attempted to put money towards building a strong film course, but never really got far enough to get the important parts, like sets and, well, the teacher. They didn't want to waste the entire building devoted to the class though and had the drama teacher double up. Normally this wouldn't be a problem because most people only take Media Arts for credits, it's the ones who actually are interested in the subject that suffer. Now, some of these people look for extracurricular film classes but others just parade around their skill from Media Arts and show off. (Note: These people are exactly like me, but I learned film from professionals, so it's ok...) There's something I've learned about student films that persists among a great many of them. Sometimes, what you want people to feel is not how they will feel during your emotional scene. Especially in a short, where we have less time to sympathize with the characters. These things are common ideas displayed in student films: - Negative view of the world - Raging emotions - Long scenes of anguish - Pointless messages - One twist that breaks the entire base of the movie, yet is supposed to be seen as profound. - Making it black and white is like adding an "insta-grit" filter. Now, I'm not saying that all of these are bad. They can be used quite effectively. What I would call ineffective use is making 2 minute scenes of a guy watching TV (because it was supposed to be his teenage angst welling up) or showing a guy walk circles in his room in fast motion. Maybe they were good ideas when they were conceived, but on screen, the audience will get bored very quickly. It was this idea that lead us to make something entirely silly.

This confusion reminds me of the time me and a friend were in a writing workshop for extracurricular stuff, and we had to write a short script based on something we drew out of a hat. Ours was apocalypse. So we made this play where there were two people, us, discussing the event of this theme park exploding (or something) and one friend, me, drops my ticket from apocalypse day and runs off into spirit world. It was confusing to the audience, but a nice "dun dun dun" at the end got us a laugh. By the way, Toadster, do you still want that rank of yours? Confusion is practically a staple of my shorts. This is often because I do many school projects for others and those are subject to last minute changes. When I was still in high school I made something for my Chinese 3 class (minimum time 15 minutes, so it required quite a bit of story, but actually gave enough room for a complex plot). Everything would have gone great and we would have ended up with a "shaky cam" action movie about the mafia and lasers until we discovered that we couldn't get the people in our group that we wanted. Likely because of the mess that was the second Chinese Movie, but we don't talk about that one.
Eventually we found ourselves sitting as four people with a script that needed six, trying to make rewrites. Often, in this case, nobody will come up with any ideas until I spout some nonsense and people say "alright." Except this time I was speaking from my heart and actually did want to do what I was spouting- a film noir, my favorite genre of film. From my position, I think that this is deserving of a "And so it began."
The first thing that went wrong was scheduling. One of the people was often unable to make it, so all of the roles were shuffled. He was also the one who had translated the english script that I wrote (Of course the movie had to be in Chinese). Now, this person is rather wacky. Certain notes I left for myself transformed from "Scene w/ shadows on wall at rest. - dating dialogue" became "Dating with llamas and excitement blam blam blam" Also, he was already a fluent speaker in Chinese and actually literally translated everything with words we hadn't learned (that was actually cool though). So we didn't understand most of the script. Later on, I realized that an entire scene was missed because he translated my notes for that scene into the dialogue of one of the characters, including the dialogue from that scene. He was never really around to explain these things...
The second thing happened on the set. At the time, me and my two friends weren't on the best of terms and all three of us were in disagreement. I wanted to make a cinematic presentation, one of the others thought I wasn't trying seriously enough for the grade, and the last one wanted to ditch any forms of script entirely and just make stuff up. It's a miracle we got anything done.
Then, we stopped and looked at our 8 minute film with not enough dialogue. At the end, in order for everyone to understand the final revelation these english words were shown in giant letters: "HE WAS CRAZY" We said "fuck it" and decided to continue the movie afterwards, now about a crazy guy and his crazy friends talking about a movie he made about a crazy guy and his crazy enemies as a mental exercise. THEN we found out that my light looked like a creepy face when turned sideways and in a hat, so the movie became a horror with everyone dying.
I can tell you now, if you watched it, you would understand no part of it, but for some reason it's still fun to watch. I was absent the day we showed it, but apparently everyone liked it. We almost got a perfect score, but the teacher didn't want anyone to get 100%... :C

I am literally about one filming day away from that. Due to the troubles with the zombie movie... which I realize I never actually mentioned here. (Note: There were difficulties) I actually intend to open with the other short I'm working on. I'm not sure if I mentioned it here, but it's the one the weird Prom video was based on.
Which is to say, it's even weirder. Part way through production, I realized that when I'm alone, there is an entire missing piece of an equation that stops me from going too far too crazy. That would be the other people part of the equation. Needless to say, this short is very very weird, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I'd never pull off the student film feel unless it was difficult to understand. I even spent some time trying to figure out all the fake metaphors I can derive from it.
But yeah. I have one scene left to shoot and it's the easiest one to edit, especially compared to the earlier segments.

Hungry's adventures in film: The Sequel
I just finished doing a twelve hour long editing grind... I have made another surreal "experience." It's very difficult to explain, but if anybody actually cares about me and my non-existent Youtube channel, this is why. I'm busy helping some friends with their Senior Reflections. In the process, I also plotted some stuff for my future and was being generally awesome.
I think the reason I'm making so many weird things right now is because I'm experienced enough realize certain concepts and I'm experienced enough that people question me less. I'm not sure that's a good thing, but maybe I'll eventually get experienced enough I start to make sense. ...or I just become one of those people who makes weird things. And there is a place for those people.

So I'm gonna be in Tampa for the next week.
...Game-wise, bringin' my DS Lite, Soul Silver and Ace Attorney Investigations. I'm hoping the latter alone will be satisfying, since I have specifically left it untouched since purchasing it at Anime Boston.
Oh, and I can't go ANYWHERE without my PokéWalker.
Rawk, Soul Silver voice-chat at 9:30 PM EST tomorrow? ...If I don't show up, try again same time, next day.
I know my sister will bring her laptop though, so if I'm able to, I could still come on over 'ere. ...It'll just be pretty limited access. ...I could probably still maintain it myself, but RNK is in charge of the H&H. Keep the posts up and stuff. ...Which means Chapter 16 has a small chance of being up by the end of June. The Captain got himself in a shitty situation that's the opposite of wot I wanted, but I can't just delete wot I already wrote. I have no idea how he'll get out of the shitty situation, and I can't just let him die or anything.
Edit: I want someone, probably Rawk, to check e3.nintendo.com frequently for new exclusive updates, and to post them. Post often and intelligently, and maybe we'll get some new members?
Edit 2: Vortex, keep the infidels off the LD.

Yesterday I went to a friend's house for a party.
Along the way I noticed at an intersection that there was a road called Division Street. No lie.

The other day, I noticed an intersection called Von Karman Street.
I then proceeded to drive right past it and start filming things.
