A boy named Billy is walking along a dirt path, with a Skiploom skipping beside him. He encounters a boy with a Murkrow purched on a tree trying to catch a Goldeen from the pond with a Good Rod. Billy walks up to the boy and asks him for a battle.
Jonathan: Don't you see I'm busy, punk?
Billy: Oh, you're trying to catch that Goldeen?
Jonathan: Yes!
Jonathan turned around to see the Goldeen gone.
Billy: Oh, sorry about that.
Jonathan: ...! I had to catch a Goldeen for a newspaper organization in Solaceon offering a rare kind of Pokéball!
Billy: Oh, you can always catch another one.
Jonathan: There isn't enough time, the deadline is in two hours and Solaceon is an hour and forty-five minutes away by running shoes! And fishing takes time... You want a battle? You got it! I'm going to crush that derpy expression off your face, punk!
Billy: Calm down! Uh... Okay then! Let's battle!
Billy: Go, Aron!
Jonathan: I choose you, Magnemite!
Billy: Uh, Aron, switch out!
Jonathan: Magnemite, Magnet Pull!
Billy: Huh? Aron? Why can't you... Magnet Pull!
Jonathan: Good.
Billy: Okay, Aron, Dig!
Jonathan: Magnemite, use Magnet Rise!
Billy: What?!
*Aron digs a hole in the ground as Magnemite rises into the air*
Billy: This is bad... Aron, stay down there! Maybe I can stall until Magnet Rise wears off...
Jonathan: Something wrong, Billy? Magnemite, use Shock Wave into the hole!
Billy: ...Ah!
*Magnemite goes over the hole and charges a wave of electricity, unleashing a burst of it down the hole*
Billy: Aron, quickly, climb up and strike it!
*Aron charges up the hole attempting to strike Magnemite*
Jonathan: Magnemite, float to the side!
Billy: Aron, change course!
*Magnemite floats a few feet to the left of the hole, but Aron digs a new passage to the left underneath Magnemite*
Jonathan: Magnemite, rise, quickly!
Billy: Aron, Rock Polish and speed up!
*Aron Rock Polishes instantly and its speed drastically increases as it charges up the hole to Magnemite, who elevates itself too high for Aron. Aron jumps into the air directly below Magnemite*
Jonathan: Finish it off with Shock Wave!
Billy: Knock Down, now!
*rocks form above Magnemite and strike it down as it tries to charge up another Shock Wave. Magnemite descends right into Aron, who strikes it with a powerful collision. Aron lands on the ground on top of Magnemite*
Jonathan: Magnemite, use Reflect and get it off you!
Billy: Use Dig, Aron!
*Magnemite sets up a Reflect just before Aron digs a hole right under Magnemite, sending it below the ground. Aron follows, digging further beneath Magnemite as Magnemite descends further and further*
Jonathan: Magnemite! Attack?
Billy: Bring it up now, Aron!
*Aron goes under Magnemite and charges back up. Eventually jumps out of the hole with a fainted Magnemite*
Jonathan: Well... Good job. Magnemite, return. I choose you... Uh... Cherrim!
Billy: Cherrim, huh? ...Aron, you want to stay in? Sure! Strike it with Iron Head!
*rock-polished Aron charges into Cherrim head-on, but damage is reduced due to Reflect*
Billy: That didn't... look like it did much!
Jonathan: Cherrim, Sunny Day!
*The sun turns significantly brighter as Cherrim changes formes*
Jonathan: Now Cherrim, use SolarBeam!
Billy: SOLARBEAM?! Aron, Dig to dodge it, QUICK!
*Aron starts digging rapidly, and it gets its head into a hole. However, SolarBeam strikes its feet, which are still above-ground. Aron is sent out of the hole into the air*
Jonathan: Now Magical Leaf!
Billy: Aron, use Knock Down on yourself!
Jonathan: You fool!
*Cherrim sends Magical Leaf directly at Aron, who uses Knock Down on itself to fast-fall to the ground. Magical Leaf, which seems to have a mind of its own, takes a sharp curve downward and strikes at Aron directly, fainting it*
Jonathan: Magical Leaf ALWAYS hits. Come on, you should know that!
*Cherrim is dancing around*
Billy: What can beat that Cherrim...? Uh... Go, Skiploom!
*Skiploom is sent out, and it is sparkling due to the sun and its Chlorophyll*
Jonathan: ...Cherrim, return! Go, Vulpix! Use your Flamethrower!
*Vulpix takes a deep breath, and a more-powerful than normal Flamethrower is unleashed at Skiploom*
Billy: Skiploom, dodge it and use Leech Seed!
*super-speedy Skiploom skips away from Flamethrower and sends a Leech Seed at Vulpix, who burns it with the flamethrower*
Billy: Uh...
Jonathan: Vulpix, Nitro Charge!
*Vulpix is surrounded in flame as it charges at Skiploom*
Billy: Skiploom, use Sleep Powder!
*as Vulpix is charging at Skiploom, Skiploom sends out Sleep Powder in the air. Vulpix manages to quickly hit Skiploom, but the Sleep Powder falls down on Vulpix, causing it to sleep*
Billy: Okay... Skiploom, return! I choose you, Sandshrew! Use Magnitude!
*Sandshrew prepares a Magnitude, but Vulpix is returned to its Pokéball*
Billy: Huh?
Jonathan: I choose you, Misdreavus! Use... Substitute!
Billy: ...? Sandshrew, attack it with your Rock Slide!
*Misdreavus hides behind a doll as Sandshrew tries to break the doll with Rock Slide... but the doll is defended by Reflect and stays*
Billy: WHAT?!?!?
Jonathan: Reflect is gone now. Glad it was useful. Misdreavus, Nasty Plot!
Billy: Uh, Sandshrew! Return! Go, Miltank!
Jonathan: This is too easy for the free turns. Misdreavus, Nasty Plot... AGAIN!
*Miltank is sent out, hugging Billy*
Billy: C'mon Miltank, now's not the time. Attack that doll with Return!
Jonathan: Hah, what a fool. The doll retains the properties of my Pokémon, in this case, the ghost-type! Misdreavus, use Nasty Plot once more!
*Miltank runs at the doll, shattering it*
Jonathan: ...?!
Billy: Yeah, but my Miltank is Scrappy. Use Return again!
Jonathan: It's too late! My Misdreavus is at maximum power thanks to your stupidity! ThunderBolt!
*Misdreavus electrifies its body as Miltank smashes into the naughty ghost. Misdreavus unleashes an extremely powerful electric jolt as it is sent sprawling backwards that instantly destroys Miltank*
Billy: WOAH. THAT WAS STRONG.
*sun wears off*
Billy: I can't outspeed it with Skiploom now... Go, Sandshrew! Use Rock Slide!
*Sandshrew sends rocks down at Misdreavus, who dodges them all*
Billy: It's fast...
Jonathan: Finish it with SHADOW BALL!
*Misdreavus instantly charges a massive Shadow Ball, sending it at Sandshrew who faints upon impact*
Billy: Sandshreeeew! Come back, you deserve a good rest... Skiploom, come back out! Use your Energy Ball!
Jonathan: Shadow Ball!
*the two balls collide, but Shadow Ball is simply much stronger. Skiploom skips out of the way so it isn't crushed*
Billy: Okay... Double Team!
Jonathan: Use your Substitute!
Billy: Son of a...
*Skiploom uses DIVISION to create illusory fakes of itself, while Misdreavus brings back the doll*
Billy: It can't get any worse... Skiploom, use more Double Team!
*Skiploom makes more copies of itself*
Jonathan: Thunderbolt them all!
*Misdreavus starts zapping the copies, but Skiploom replaces them faster*
Billy: Now, combination Energy Ball!
*all of the illusions and the real Skiploom charge up an Energy Ball and hit the doll with it, breaking it*
Jonathan: Misdreavus, levitate up in the air!
Billy: Skiplooms, shoot Energy Balls!
*Misdreavus is buffetted by several Energy Balls, but dodges some. Somehow it isn't taking any damage. Jonathan is looking closely at which Skiploom is shooting which Energy Ball*
Jonathan: Okay Misdreavus! Shoot a Shadow Ball at the Skiploom that I'm pointing at!
*Jonathan is pointing at the real Skiploom*
Billy: Uh oh. Skiploom, Leech Seed!
*Skiploom sends an overhead Leech Seed to Misdreavus, who blasts and destroys the correct Skiploom with Shadow Ball. The Leech Seed attaches itself*
Billy: Okay... Go, Meditite!
Jonathan: I'm going to take you down with me! Misdreavus, use Shadow Ball and blow it away!
Billy: Meditite, use Detect!
Jonathan: ...NO!
*Meditite's eyes glow blue as Misdreavus shoots a Shadow Ball at it. Meditite backflips away from it, as the Leech Seed causes Misdreavus to faint*
Jonathan: You did extremely well, Misdreavus. Well enough to make finishing this kid off to be quite easy... Go, Murkrow!
Billy: A Murkrow? Okay, this'll be risky but... Meditite, return! Go... GYARADOS!
*Gyarados is sent out, intimidating Murkrow with a scary roar*
Jonathan: A Gyarados?! And with Magnemite and Misdreavus out of commission... Murkrow, return! Go... Cherrim!
Billy: Okay Gyarados! Use Ice Fang!
*Gyarados just lays there, staring at the diminutive Cherrim*
Billy: What... are you waiting for? Ice Fang!
Jonathan: ... And here I was, worried. It won't obey you! Hah! Cherrim, Sunny Day!
*Sun gets harsh and Cherrim switches formes again*
Jonathan: Obliterate it with SolarBeam!
Billy: Gyarados you have to do something!
*Cherrim instantly charges a SolarBeam and strikes Gyarados in the face. Gyarados is struck back and lets out a harsh cry. It slithers above Cherrim, evidently pissed*
Billy: ...Uh...
Jonathan: Cherrim, SolarBeam again!
*Gyarados's mouth is covered in flame as it unleashes a Fire Blast, easily overpowering Cherrim's SolarBeam and burning Cherrim*
Jonathan: You taught it Fire Blast?!?
*Cherrim is cloaked in fire as it suffers from its burn*
Billy: Well, you see... Yeah. Gyarados, return now!
*Gyarados dodges the Pokéball return beam, enraged. It takes a big bite out of Cherrim with Ice Fang, fainting it*
Jonathan: ...Vulpix, go!
*sleeping Vulpix is sent out*
Billy: Given up? Gyarados, Aqua Tail!
*Gyarados is irresponsive and instead uses Rest, fully healing itself*
Billy: ...;_;
Jonathan: Good... Vulpix, return! Murkrow, back out! Nothing to be afraid of, it's sleeping!
Billy: Okay, Gyarados, return... Meditite, get out and fight!
*Murkrow and Meditite are sent out, both of them staring at the other*
Jonathan: Murkrow, Wing Attack!
Billy: Detect it!
*Murkrow descends down at Meditite, planning to strike it with its right wing. Meditite's eyes glow blue and it rolls to the side to avoid the wing*
Billy: Okay Meditite! Hi Jump Kick!
Jonathan: ...Do a barrel roll!
*Meditite turns around to face the flying Murkrow, and jumps into the air to strike the crow with a kick. Murkrow does a barrel roll and avoids the kick as Meditite crashes into the ground, taking recoil*
Billy: Meditite, return! Gyarados, back out!
*Gyarados is sent back out, still sleeping. Murkrow is Intimidated anyway*
Jonathan: Murkrow, come back! Seviper, out you go! Poison Tail!
*The scared shitless Murkrow is returned as the devious and fearless Seviper is sent out, which instantly strikes Gyarados with a critical hit Poison Tail*
Billy: Gyarados! Come back!
Jonathan: Oh no you don't! Seviper, use Wrap and keep it on the field!
*Seviper wraps itself around Gyarados, preventing it from switching out*
Jonathan: Now squeeze it!
Billy: ;_; Gyarados, wake up!
*Gyarados is squeezed by Seviper, but eventually wakes up*
Jonathan: Seviper, slither away and unbind it, then strike with Poison Tail!
Billy: Gyarados, Ice Fang!
*Gyarados is enraged again, and blasts Seviper close-range with Fire Blast. Then Gyarados Ice Fangs Seviper to get a grip on it with its teeth, and throws the venomous snake away with its mouth*
Jonathan: ... Uh, Poison Tail!
*Seviper lands and prepares to Poison Tail Gyarados, which smashes Seviper's tail with its own Aqua Tail, causing Seviper to fly several meters in the air. Gyarados follows it and smashes Seviper with another Aqua Tail downward into the ground, causing a 3-foot deep imprint into the surface of the earth. Seviper has clearly fainted. Gyarados roars in superiority*
Jonathan: ...Go, Vulpix! Let's do the same thing as before...
*Sun wears off, and Gyarados is still roaring, bashing Vulpix in the skull with an Aqua Tail from a vertical angle, knocking it out in one hit*
Billy: It looks like Gyarados is too angry to fall asleep again! Yes!
Jonathan: There is no way I'm losing to a newb who can't control his own Pokémon! Murkrow, get out there! Crush that oversized lizard with Sucker Punch!
*Gyarados prepares to Aqua Tail Murkrow, who Sucker Punches Gyarados on its abdomen, resulting in Gyarados falling to the ground unable to attack*
Jonathan: Use Psychic!
*Gyarados is levitated into the air by Murkrow, and sent straight down to the ground*
Jonathan: Follow up with Wing Attack!
Billy: Do something!
*Gyarados is smacked by Wing Attack, fainting*
Billy: ...Meditite, I choose...you! Use Retaliate!
Jonathan: Destroy it with Wing Attack!
*Murkrow swoops down with glowing wings. Meditite glows yellow and rushes at Murkrow. The two collide. Meditite is sent rolling backwards but eventually collapses while Murkrow plummets to the ground*
Jonathan: Get up Murkrow! We're not losing this!
Billy: Meditite, please be okay!
*Meditite does not get up, while Murkrow gets up on its talons and lets out a cry*
Jonathan: ...Looks like I win.
Billy: Yeah... good game...
Jonathan: You need to control your Pokémon better.
*Jonathan walks off with Murkrow returned back to its Pokéball*

Analysis (in order of appearance):
Aron: It was a big mistake for Aron to be sent out vs. Magnemite, as it could not switch out, along with Magnemite resisting Aron's STAB moves. However, Aron is probably one of the stronger members of Billy's team, since it was able to defeat something that clearly had the advantage over it. It could overcome its speed problems with Rock Polish and then use perfect coverage of Iron Head - Dig - Knock Down to overwhelm its opponents. Aron could've done a bit more in the battle if Billy switched it out against Cherrim.
Magnemite: Magnemite actually did its job well, mainly because of Reflect. This means it did its job as a lead successfully and also its job of steel-trapper by assist-killing Billy's steel-type. Reflect would allow Cherrim to take the Iron Head well, and also prevented Sandshrew's Rock Slide from breaking Misdreavus's Substitute. Shock Wave did fine and Magnet Rise was basically useless.
Cherrim: Cherrim was decent, but one gets the feeling that Sunny Day didn't actually help Jonathan's team all that much. In fact, it might've helped Billy more, since it powered up Skiploom and Gyarados's Fire Blast. Cherrim's SolarBeam was still fairly powerful and it revenge-killed Aron with Magical Leaf.
Skiploom: Skiploom was fairly bulky to not be felled by Vulpix's attack in the sun. Its Sleep Powder basically shut down Vulpix, who could've otherwise been a fairly large threat. More importantly, it finished off Misdreavus with Energy Ball, Leech Seed and Double Team. Skiploom's speed due to the sun and Chlorophyll is also to be noted. Although Skiploom didn't KO anything, it basically got Meditite's KO of Misdreavus for it and shut down Vulpix.
Vulpix: Vulpix could've been immensely dangerous had it not been Sleep Powdered, with its Flamethrower and speed-boosting Nitro Charge. It could've been the main benefactor of Sunny Day, but Jonathan had to use it to send Gyarados to Rest later on in the match. Which still makes it useful. It got a hit on Skiploom, but it would've been OHKO'd by Misdreavus anyway.
Sandshrew: All Sandshrew did was allow Misdreavus to get to +6 special attack and then get destroyed. Sandshrew's Rock Slide and Magnitude coverage basically made it a crappier Aron. Worst Pokémon of the match.
Misdreavus: Easily the best Pokémon of the match. Nothing Billy had could actually beat the thing, and it took 4/6s of Billy's team to take it down. Its Shadow Ball and Thunder Bolt combination was unresisted, and it powered itself up with Substitute and Nasty Plot, benefiting from Magnemite's Reflect. At +6 special attack, it could OHKO anything, and it did.
Miltank: Miltank could've been the most reliable Pokémon on Billy's team had it not been sacrificed by Billy to help break down Misdreavus. It was clearly affectionate for Billy, which helped its only known attack, Return, deal great damage. Its ability, Scrappy, also put that move to good use, surprising even Jonathan.
Meditite: The obviously Pure Power Meditite didn't really do much, using Detect, Hi Jump Kick and Retaliate. Detect was probably its best move in the match, since Hi Jump Kick missed. It was up against Murkrow three times in all, and did nothing-to-poorly in all of them. Detect did allow it to have Misdreavus finally faint, though.
Murkrow: The second-best Pokémon on Jonathan's team, behind Misdreavus. It used Wing Attack to assault Meditite and Gyarados, but also had Sucker Punch and could use Psychic to needless but cool effect. It could also Barrel Roll awesomely, pressing Z or R twice. It had enough defense to withstand Meditite's Retaliate in order to avoid a draw.
Gyarados: Billy's uncontrollable last Pokémon is also his strongest, and in terms of brute strength without boosts, the most powerful in the whole match. It's unknown where he got it or why he has a Pokémon that doesn't obey him, but it is Intimidating, mostly to Murkrow. Yet it also uses Rest against opponents that doesn't pose a threat to it. Billy for some reason taught it Fire Blast, taking advantage of the sun against Cherrim. It crushed Cherrim, Vulpix and Seviper and could take many hits. It also has a ferocious Aqua Tail for STAB and Ice Fang.
Seviper: This serpent Pokémon couldn't defeat Gyarados, thus making it crap. Its Wrap did allow Jonathan to keep the sleeping Gyarados in play so Billy couldn't send out Meditite to deal with Seviper. Its Poison Tail is clearly outclassed by Gyarados's Aqua Tail, preventing Seviper from winning anything.

*Magnemite sets up a Reflect just before Aron digs a hole right under Magnemite, sending it below the ground. Aron follows, digging further beneath Magnemite as Magnemite descends further and further*

*Aron goes under Magnemite and charges back up. Eventually jumps out of the hole with a fainted Magnemite*

*Gyarados is irresponsive and instead uses Rest, fully healing itself*
Billy: ...;_;
