The cartwheel jump is what makes Diddy his own character. Dixie is always the answer to horizontal transport, but increasing elevation in mid-fall to get access to certain banana tokens and bonus areas is the only reason why you would ever use Diddy over Dixie in the first place. Throwing was never capitalized on until DKC3, though, so not knowing how to do that isn't really a big deal. @ludwig: I don't recall Galaxy being difficult in any particular area. Any frustration I had stemmed from my own recklessness. You need the throwing for some bonus areas. Bouldergeist.

Galaxy was only difficult a few times when they asked for ridiculous things. I know it doesn't apply to everyone, but I thought Luig1's Purple Coins was rather frustrating. :/ Also, the controls really weren't that good. The smaller the land masses got, the more you realize how shitty the camera is.
Honestly, I don't really intend on participating in this debate, because the only thing I'm judging the games on is exploration. That's just how I like it.

Galaxy clearly has less exploration than the other 3 platformers mentioned.

Which is why I clearly like Galaxy the least and Sunshine the most.

But I was talking about 3D Mari0 games. The same applies to side scrolling platformers anyway.

Woah woah woah. I just saw the entire opening cutscene of Galaxy 2. It starts us off with a giant plot hole!
The Star Celebration or whatever happens once every century they say, but they never explain why it is happening again and why so soon! The cut scene also introduces the white luma, which traveled with Mari0 in the first game, as if he and Mari0 never met. This Luma appeared to be lost, as were others but no one explained how they even got there.
Bowser's motives in this game are severely under developed. Heck, even his off screen actions. He's seen stomping around as a giant on Peach's castle grounds. I don't even see any air ships around. Just him as a gigantic target. He somehow kidnaps princess peach with minimal damage to the castle, which means that Princess Peach was outside and failed to run away inside the castle. Toad Town's invasion was made with minimal effort. There were no UFOs tearing the castle from the ground this time. Just simple growth magic did the exact same job for the exact same motives. It's as if Bowser gained so much brain damage last time, that he had forgotten his previous invasion. And did he have to emphasize how "HUGE" he was?
This continuity error is very puzzling. What could have happened?
1. After Galaxy 1, everyone forgot everything that happened, and the Festival was restarted by fate in hopes of it being more successful. 2. After Galaxy 1, everyone forgot everything that happened, and a century in the perspective of the people in the Grand Finale Galaxy is much much shorter than our perspective of a century. 3. Everyone in the Grand Finale Galaxy ages much slower and lives a lot longer. 4. Galaxy 1 and Galaxy 2 run concurrently in two different universes.

Or just not have Galaxy 2 be canon.

Or just not have Galaxy 2 be canon. Considering the content of the game, and considering the people who worked on the game, there's no way that can be possible.

Considering the content of the game, and considering the people who worked on the game, there's no way that can be possible. I don't see why. It's about the same as saying Bowser's Inside Story isn't canon because the appearance of Toad Town has changed without any explanation. The things I noticed about the opening cut scene of Galaxy 2 were some unlikely changes, but using the changes as evidence to justify why a game is not canon is useless. The changes are trivial and most people don't mind them. Peach's Castle in Super Mari0 64 was placed upon a hill. Peach's Castle in Paper Mari0 was not on a hill. Yet even though there is no explanation for why the hill is missing, Paper Mari0 is still canon, isn't it?

I basically theorized that the Star Festival in both games is technically the very same one, it just gets resumed in the second after being interrupted in the first and didn't finish yet.

Except that at the end of the first game, everyone is friends with each other and dancing together. If that were true, it would mean Bowser, in the middle of enjoying the Star Festival suddenly had an un-change-of-heart and decided to attack again.
I think it's pretty safe to say the events of Galaxy 2 are non-canon. The game was advertised practically as an extension to Galaxy 1 using ideas that were unable to be implemented or discovered too late. Clearly, the game is only meant to be a gameplay experience and all story related things can be disregarded, especially after Miyamoto's announcement.

The timeline fell apart after the black hole in the end of Galaxy 1. Galaxy 2 is in one of a bunch of parallel universes.
It's canon, but not in a way that actually makes sense.

I am correct.
SMG2 is the greatest platformer ever.

I am correct. SMG2 is the greatest platformer ever. Well we all knew you'd say that. I still have no plans to get it.

I'm still not using my money to get it either. After seeing what the Grandmaster Galaxy holds for the talented, this game looks too hard for me. I wouldn't be able to make the most of it.

By the way, the trash robot doesn't ask you to use Bob-ombs to blow up trash this time. Instead, he has you use fireballs to burn boxes. It's much easier.
At least, that's how it is the first time he appears. If he appears a second time, though, it'll still probably be different. Even if the developers like the trash robot, they've clearly learned what not to have him do.

My problem is in other places. I'm sure I'll be able to borrow this game from one of my friends, but there are too many other games out right now that I actually want to get for me to spend money on one I'm not especially interested in.
