So just now I was doing laundry, and since my residence was over 200 - well, residents - the 5 non-broken washers and dryers are used up quite frequently.
So there were two dryers open, and I was doing two loads of laundry. I go down with 1 minute left on one and the other already washed, which had been taken out and set on top of the washer (as I said, it was busy and was already being re-used). I put one load in one of the empties and wait for the other. When it's done, I go to put it in the other dryer and a guy standing there stops me and says "Sorry, I was going to use that one for these two loads."
Now, this would not be a problem except his load of laundry was NOT done. He had been waiting since I had arrived, on time, to retrieve my laundry; about 3 minutes and counting.
So he had deliberately went down early to stake out a dryer.
His justification seemed to be that he was going to put two loads in one dryer, and so he shouldn't have to wait. But my laundry was done already, and I also needed the dryer, AND I already had one load being dried. So I should have to wait 20 minutes to start my second load, but he shouldn't have to wait 20 minutes to do his? Now I have two loads at different times. If he had waited, all his laundry would be done at the same time, just 20 minutes later.
So I had to go back down, start second dryer, come back up to my room, go down and get my first load, go up, go down and get second load, go up, whilst he had to go down once.
It seems to me that this was a very rude thing to do.
What do you think? Was a dryer stake-out viable, or was it rude?
