So anyway back on the scintillating topic of Kameks, what is he called in Japan if Magikoopas are called Kamek? It's sort of like the reverse situation of Bowser being called Koopa over there.

If I'm not mistaken... Japan: Magikoopa = "Kamek" Kamek = "Kamek" Everywhere else: Magikoopa = "Magikoopa" Kamek = "Kamek"

Thus confirming my theory Kamek isn't actually a character, just a mistranslation.

Thus confirming my theory Kamek isn't actually a character, just a mistranslation. ...No. You're assuming a mistranslation actually took place. Who is the one Magikoopa in Yoshi's Island? Is he a 'mistranslation' or a character?

I think this can be compared with the Toad or Yoshi species, but with a mutation.
They're all called Toad or Yoshi (unless otherwise given an actual name, see the RPGs), but it is believed there is one that is considered the Toad/Yoshi. This can be applied to Magikoopas "Kameks" in Japan, where they're all called that with a single individual sharing the same name.
...But in the games outside of Japan it was decided to give that Magikoopa an actual name, so Kamek was given to that individual to contrast him from the other Magikoopas.
Why this isn't applied to Toad or Yoshi is beyond me.

Why this isn't applied to Toad or Yoshi is beyond me. I would assume it's because "Toad" and "Yoshi" sound more like actual, real names to Western audiences than "Magikoopa". A character called Toad out of a species called Toads. A character called Yoshi out of a species called Yoshi(s). A character called Magikoopa out of a species called Magikoopas. It just doesn't have the same effect. If they did come to this point, they probably just decided to use the Magikoopa's Japanese name (Kamek) as the name for the individual character simply because it sounds a lot better.

What I don't get is why people auto-assume it's Kamek without further evidence. What about BiS? Isn't the Magikoopa with Bowser generally assumed to be Kamek, without any real evidence.
I think Nintendo should add some sort of indentification to Yoshi, Toad and Kamek to differ them from others of their species.
